Cheeta cubs explore outdoor enclosure in Beekse Bergen for the first time

Under the watchful eye of the caring mother, the two cheetah cubs, over two months old, discovered the outdoor enclosure at Safaripark Beekse Bergen for the first time.

At the end of October, cheetah Daria came from France to Beekse Bergen as part of the European management program. In mid-February, after a gestation period of three months, she gave birth to her first litter.

Management Program
Beekse Bergen is the coordinator of the European cheetah management program. Curator Lars Versteege: "As coordinator of the management program, we have the important task of putting genetically good animals together so that we have a healthy reserve population in European zoos. The population in the wild is very small with less than 7,000 cheetahs." Felines face many threats, the biggest of which is human-animal conflict.
