Christmas dinner for the animals at Safaripark Beekse Bergen

The animals in Safaripark were served a tasty Christmas dinner again this year. The dinner was offered in different challenging ways, which is called "enrichment. To offer the food in different ways stimulates the natural behavior of the animal.

With the Hippopotamus, food was offered in a festive manner. The lions and tigers received a package containing meat. In the flowerbed near the African elephants and baboons, Christmas trees were richly decorated with fruits and vegetables.

Enrichment, by the way, does not always pass through the stomach. In the bed near the lions, there were bags of elephant dung. This is a treat for the lions, as it smells very good to the felines.
