Deeple saddening news

It is with deep sadness that we must report that the animal keeper at Safaripark Beekse Bergen has died today from the injuries she sustained on Saturday 24 October during an incident involving a panther in the park. We are sharing this in consultation with her family.

The keeper joined Safaripark Beekse Bergen at the age of 17 and had worked there, with brief interruptions, for almost 40 years. Her death affects us all deeply and our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones. At this time, our full attention is focused on supporting her family and her colleagues.

A space will be set up in the park for people to leave messages of condolence. All colleagues will, of course, be given the opportunity to say their goodbyes.

An independent investigation is being launched. We are unable to comment further on this at present.

We ask for your understanding and for privacy for her next of kin and our staff, so that they may come to terms with this profound loss.
