Safaripark Beekse Bergen is the most educational getaway

The Dutchman, today, finds it important to gain something from an enjoyable day out. Both young and old find this important. Zoos meet this need for knowledge and Safaripark Beekse Bergen came out of the test as the best. The research was done by Hendrik Beerda Brand Consultancy.

Brand consultant Hendrik Beerda: "Anno 2023, the Dutch day tourist is still quite Calvinistic. Just having fun is often seen as too frugal. The day should also be spent usefully, so an educational element is desirable. Contemporary zoos, such as Beekse Bergen and Artis, appear to fill this need well for the three generations. First, they provide an atmospheric place to enjoy together and with good public facilities. At the end of Day you also go home a little smarter.'

According to Beerda, zoos are the main competitors of museums. 'In the past, zoos were mainly for fun and museums for serious knowledge gathering. Over the years, these two forms of leisure activities have converged. Zoos recognized that a strong educational program became necessary to ensure their survival.'

The research was developed with the University of Amsterdam and has been conducted since 2010. Since then, more than 50,000 respondents have participated in this research. The research is conducted in-house.
