Nature Conservation Education in Beekse Bergen
In Beekse Bergen, the love for animals and nature is nurtured. During various safaris, our guests experience how beautiful nature is. The animals in the park are ambassadors of their wild counterparts who are often threatened with extinction. Our rangers and volunteers are ready daily for our visitors and are happy to share everything about the animals, nature conservation, and species preservation. Providing good education is therefore one of the most important goals of Beekse Bergen and is reflected in everything we do in the park.

Together we care for nature
Beekse Bergen plays an important role in connecting people and nature. During a visit to the Safari Park, visitors learn all about animals and their habitats. They see, feel, hear, and experience how special nature is. In an informative and interactive way, we try to offer visitors their own perspective for action. Many animal species in the park are threatened with extinction and have difficulty in their original habitats. But this also applies to many species living in Dutch nature. Together we can help, with big or small steps. In the Safari Park, visitors discover how Beekse Bergen contributes to nature conservation and how they can help themselves.

4 types of safaris
Visitors explore the Safari Park through 4 types of safaris. During the boat and bus safari a ranger tells more about the animals in the park. Objects such as skin, fur, horns, and poop are also shown, allowing guests to gain more information through experience. Guests can also embark on their own discovery with the walking or car safari. Through signage, interactive kiosks, and an audio tour, we provide visitors with extra information.

Bird of Prey Safari
Birds of prey are at the top of the food pyramid and have a well-developed hunting instinct. During the bird of prey safari, the birds sometimes come surprisingly close. The keepers tell during the bird of prey safari how the birds live in the wild. The birds themselves support the story with their natural behaviors. Because many species of birds of prey and vultures are not doing well in the wild, attention is also paid to species conservation during the presentation.

Hut of the Village Elder
At the elephant valley, an experiential education point has been developed around the village elder Makena. He tells everything about the conflict between his people, the Kikuyu in Kenya, and the elephants that live around his village Nanyuki. Makena also talks about the solution that has been found. Through Stichting Wildlife, Beekse Bergen supports the Elephant & Bees project of Save the Elephants. The beehives that protect the villages in Kenya are also placed next to the hut of the village elder.

Interactive elements
During the walking safari, guests see the animals in their spacious habitats. At each enclosure, there are educational boards with information about the animal and its original habitat. Additionally, there are interactive panels where children learn through play. Ideally, their parents or caregivers play a supportive and motivating role in this. Threats to animals, but also the opportunities presented by our conservation projects, play a prominent role in the park.

Volunteers
The volunteers of Stichting Wildlife can be found in the Kraal on the entrance plaza and in the walkthrough area of the ring-tailed lemurs and red ruffed lemurs. In the Kraal, the volunteers talk about the conservation projects supported by the foundation, but of course also about the mounted animals that can be seen here. At the ring-tailed lemurs, they supervise and provide visitors with educational messages. The volunteers are happy to answer questions.

Gamedrive
Visitors of the Safari Park can opt for a gamedrive with a ranger. The ranger drives across the savannah and stops at different animals like the Nubian giraffe, blue wildebeest, black sable antelope, and more. The ranger explains more about the animals' bodies and behavior, as well as the opportunities and threats these species face in the wild. The ranger is also happy to answer any questions.

Animation and education
In Beekse Bergen, the rangers tell children about the animals in the Safari Park, their original habitat, and the opportunities and threats for these animals in the wild in a fun and interactive way. This information is conveyed to guests through game elements and shows. The rangers can be found throughout Beekse Bergen, both in the Safari Park, at the Safari Hotel, and at the Safari and Lake Resort.

Information for schools
Beekse Bergen offers free teaching packages for primary schools. This way, children in groups 3 to 8 can learn more about the importance of nature conservation and the role you can play as a person in this. We also offer various presentation packages, through which children can learn more about different animal species and their habitats in a fun and educational way.
