The construction of the Elephant Valley

In order to give the herds of African elephants at Beekse Bergen even more space and facilitate any future expansion of the group, the elephant enclosure has been expanded.

You can read all about the modifications and construction of the new Elephant Valley here.

What has changed?

The name "Elephant Valley" suggests that it is just an expansion of the elephant enclosure. But with the expansion of the elephant stay, adjacent stays have been included, greatly expanding the savanna experience at the heart of Safaripark!

The Elephant Valley has been expanded by 2 hectares (20,000m2) - 5,000 m2 more than the other elephant plains. The savannahs have been laid out with great respect for existing trees, but also with an eye to elephant comfort: with a water feature and lee walls.

In addition to elephants, Sitatungas and a group of Defassa waterbucks will also use the plains. The Defassa waterbuck is a new species for the Safaripark.

The new walking trail is connected to the stay of Black rhinoceros, along the existing route ungulate savannah and the Africa Village. The Elephant Valley is the shining centerpiece!

There is also a completely new aviary as large as 2200m2 and 11 meters high. An existing hyena enclosure has been renovated with an unobstructed view of the Elephant Valley. And finally, the cheeta enclosures are also being taken in hand with more experience and visibility. This will optimize the management of this species.
